Another one of these disgusting scams where you get asked to pay to learn something.

The scam also appears under the name "Making Money From You Photos".

You will typically get one or two very well prepared PDF files that tell you, in extremely misleading details, how to;

And

111-Things-You-Can-Get-Paid-to-Photograph

Any photographer than that actually makes money from photos is damn good; it is an extremely competitive market with a discerning market that gets more particular every day.

After these scammers take your money they tell you rubbish like:

You don’t need any special skills, just my secrets.

You don’t need any special equipment, a smartphone or simple point-and-click device will do.

You won’t be competing with a zillion other people.

According to my photographer friends and the photo repositories I’ve looked at this is rubbish.

Here are some of the many sites that you can subscribe to for nothing.

123RF.com

Fotolia.com

Dreamstime.com

Shutterstock.com

iStockPhoto.com

depositphotos.com

Scoopshot.com

I tried a few of these sites myself – with some of my photos I thought were pretty good. Here’s what happens;

  • You submit your pictures

  • They get judged by a submissions review panel

  • Many get rejected, reasons given vary by include

  • No commercial vale

  • Inadequate framing

  • Poor focus

  • No depth of field

  • Others

If you fail the initial test you can wait up to two weeks before being allowed to try again.

Easy, right? Anyone can do it with piece of rubbish camera or smartphone. Wrong. Very, very wrong.
